Early History of Japan
The first people to inhabit the islands of Japan were Stone Age people who arrived in the archipelago during the Paleolithic period. These people, thought to have come from Southeast Asia, are known as the Jomon-jin.
From ancient times, Japan was a very isolated country with its own political system and culture. This made trade with foreign countries and each other difficult.
